Why we charge a £2 joining fee and annual fee

Credit Unions aren't a typical finance business; we exist for the benefit of our members, we are a mutual. Therefore each individual saver and borrower has to become a member and we charge a joining and an annual membership fee. Most of this fee is passed on to our trade organisation the Association of British Credit Unions Ltd (ABCUL) which supplies us with support on policy and development. AdvanceCU aims to keep the membership fee as low as possible.

Part of our ethos is to encourage our Members to manage their money well, saving for a purpose and being prudent with resources. If being part of credit union isn't worth £2 per year, then maybe this isn't for you. That's OK, just let us know your reason for leaving and we'll close your account.
